I've had several hair colours in the past - brunette, black, purpley, red and coppery - but before Uni I was blonde for 5-10 years.
I decided a while ago that I wanted to become a blondie once again, as I missed it, but I've had a bit of a struggle getting there. Any half decent hairdresser will tell you that it's impossible to go from dark brown to blonde immediately, unless you want permanent hair damage. The dye completely strips your hair of any moisture, so the trick is to do it in stages.
I started with blondish ends to follow the ombre hair trend of this year:
Then I had the top stripped, highlights in the top and lowlights in the bottom to get a dark blonde effect:
A few days ago, I had even more highlights put in and got this effect:
There is still an element of ombre to it, as it is darker at the roots than it is at the end. Ombre hair is still very much 'in', but much more subtle for Autumn/Winter than it was for Spring/Summer. Examples, similar to mine, include: Cheryl Cole, Nicole Scherzinger and Vanessa Hudgens.
I think, ultimately, I want this kind of blonde back (circa 2007):
I will get there eventually! Wish me luck!
