I thought I'd jump on the blogger bandwagon and write a special post to review 2013. There's something strangely satisfying about looking back on what I've done with my life over the past year and coming up with ideas on how I can make 2014 even better.
2013 has been a pretty tough one for me; I've had a lot more downs than I've had ups. Those who know me know that I'm a private person and I find it difficult to share personal details with people that I'm not familiar with - so let's just leave it at that.
However, 2013 has brought me some good times. Highlights include:
1. Visiting the Harry Potter set tour in Watford (January).
2. Moving in with my boyfriend (March).
3. Spending 12 nights on a cruise ship around the Mediterranean (July).
4. Dancing to KOL - again - at V Fest (August).
5. After struggling as a graduate in today's job market, finally getting a job in Fashion Marketing (October).
Last year, my New Year's resolutions were to move in with my boyfriend, get a job in Fashion Marketing and make more effort with my true friends. I'm happy to say that I've managed to do all three!
This year, I want to get fitter - as I feel like I've eaten and drank so much during the back end of 2013. I also want to try and see my friends and family from home more. Living in Milton Keynes, whilst they're all in Yorkshire, has made me feel cut off from my loved ones since I moved down here last March. I've only seen them a handful of times so I would like to see them more in 2014. Then, finally, I want to save more money.
Blogging-wise, I've had a good year building my content and readership. I've had this blog since Uni, but didn't start regularly posting on it until October 2012. I get asked all of the time - 'why do you do it?' Well, I enjoy it. It's as simple as that. I love having a place where I can share my love of fashion with like-minded people.
My blog is just starting to give me some of the opportunities that I could initially only dream about, and I hope I can continue to grow and improve it throughout 2014. This is my chance to just thank each and every one of you that do read my ramblings every week. It means the absolute world to me knowing that people, however many, care about my thoughts and opinions! I'm genuinely so grateful and I hope you will keep enjoying my posts and commenting.
Without further ado, here's my top ten favourite posts of 2013:
2013 was the year that Gossip Girl ended and I had to make my mind up, once and for all, whether I preferred the style of Blair or Serena.
I'd previously wrote a female version of Get the Look: Made in Chelsea for IDEAL magazine and, immediately after, there was a demand for the male version! I am addicted to Made in Chelsea so I really enjoyed writing this post. You're welcome, boys.
SS13 meant the revival of disco pants and looking like Sandra Dee from Grease on a regular basis. I found this very fun!
Mary-Kate Olsen is one of my ultimate style crushes; she brings a fresh modernity to the term 'boho chic'. I loved exploring how I could mimic her individualistic look.
2013 was the year that I started to include more outfit posts on my blog. I fell in love with the AW13 tartan trend and just had to base an OOTD on it.
SS13 was the season of 90's nostalgia - and not just for the mad fashions! As I was a 90's kid, I had so much fun looking back on the era in reference to what was going on at the time.
I went to V Festival for the first time in 2013, just for the day to see KOL, however I was eager to dress the part!
I was lucky enough to get a DSLR camera recently, used for the first time on this post. I'm so pleased with the result of the photographs and think it will make a big difference to my blog in 2014.
This was the first press day that I'd been invited to! I loved it and I hope there's many more to come!
How strange that this was the very first post of 2013 and it's my ultimate favourite! Kane (my boyfriend) gave me tickets to the set tour in Watford for Christmas last year. To say that I love Harry Potter is an understatement, so this day out was kind of a big deal for me! Next stop: Harry Potter World in Florida (I wish)!
I hope you had fun last night on NYE, whatever you did, and here's to an amazing 2014! Let's make it a good one.
