Good morning, my lovely readers!
I’m a happy bunny today as I’m currently back up North, in my home town of Wakefield, to see my family and friends.
I got a sweet little OOTN to show you from a date with my boyfriend a week or so ago!
I feel like I’m a little late to the party with this look, as strappy swing dresses first made a comeback on the blogosphere during the Spring/Summer 2013 season. Bloggers tended to style them with sandals and a smile in the lovely sunshiny weather. However, my challenge was to update the swing dress and make it more appropriate for the transition into Autumn/Winter.
I wanted to keep the colour palette simple with my new black swing dress, therefore I just put a white long sleeved top underneath. Monochrome is still extremely popular amongst fashionistas so I killed two birds with one stone (so-to-speak) with a trendy aesthetic, as well as a warmer alternative to bare arms in order to combat the chilly winds.
As it was date night, I wanted to show a little bit of flesh; I kept my legs out but added my chunky cut-out boots to toughen up the, otherwise understated, look. I also added the bowler hat for extra warmth, as well as extra style statement.
Then it was matter of including classy silver jewellery, such as my Harry Potter Deathly Hallows necklace, to upmarket my look for the smart casual occasion.

Beauty-wise, I glammed up my make-up by hitting two of the hottest beauty trends of the A/W season. Firstly, I winged my liquid liner to capture the sixties sultry eye. Then I used bronze lipstick to showcase the metallic look seen on designer catwalks such as Dior.
We had a lovely time!
Now, excuse me, I’m off to play with my Northern monkeys…
