You’ve got to love the blogosphere.
As well as being this amazing hybrid of creative content produced by some incredibly talented individuals, it’s vastly become a powerful tool that influences high street trends, blogger style and fashions of the moment.
I mean, I don’t know about you but, if I see one of my fave influencers wearing a lush piece from an affordable, well-known high street retailer, I often feel like I simply MUST have it right away.
(Be mine, bro.)
In fact, there have been certain items in the last couple of seasons that top bloggers have worn and promoted on their blogs or social media via affiliate links, which have instantly sold out.
Like, it goes on their Insta Stories one hour and then it’s only available in a size 6 the next (which ain’t ever going to work for a gal with Kardashian-style hips. Boo hiss.)
Pretty impressive stuff though, right?
The truth is: bloggers have a lot of say nowadays in terms of what’s going to sell and what’s not in the fashion world.
Whether it’s clothing, footwear or accessories, there seem to be specific pieces that are sort of trending in the fashion blogging world of late.
It’s almost like, if you don’t have them – are you even a blogger?
Read on to find out which pieces you need to have in your wardrobe to achieve fashion blogger style.
Come on, lass.
You’re telling me that you haven’t seen every blogger and their dog wearing THAT Gucci dupe belt recently?
If you’ve been living under a rock, I’m talking about the black leather/faux leather waist belt with two interlocking gold Gs in the centre.
Usually utilised to define your waist when teamed with high-waisted bottoms or a floaty dress, this belt is currently E’RRRYYYTHAAANG in the fashion blogger world. And I love it.
Did you know that the Gucci dupe belt looks KILLER with high-waisted jeans that hug your hips and generally accentuate your figure?
Whether they’re Mum-like jeans or indigo flared numbers inspired by the 70s, you can instantly achieve blogger style if you get a pair of these ASOS bad boys into your wardrobe. Pronto.
Likewise, why not combine your Gucci dupe belt and high-waisted jeans with a crop top that has a deep V-neck and floaty sleeves with a flute hem?
If you’re not feeling the crop top, jeans and belt look, swap your jeans and belt for wide-legged, high-waisted trousers or culottes and sandals for ultimate summertime cool. Winning.
OMG are you even a fashionista if you don’t have a pair of tassel earrings in your accessory collection?
Like SRSLY, do you not realise how tassel earrings have practically dominated the jewellery scene in the past few seasons?
Now available in a multitude of hues and designs a la Topshop, most fashion bloggers have around 453 pairs to play with on a daily basis.
Me? I have 452*.
*Okay, I’m exaggerating. But I do have a heck of a lot.
At the time of writing this, straw bags are reigning supreme on the affordable handbag scene.
But, in terms of the luxury world, every self-professed fashion addict knows that Michael Kors grab-and-go handbags are EVERYWHERE.
I mean, I can’t go down my local high street without seeing one. (And did you know that it’s a lot of young people rocking them? Like, teenagers? How do they afford this, I wonder? HOW?)
ANYWAY… Cute little bags with two short handles (and perhaps an extra crossbody strap) are definitely taking over the blogosphere. To achieve fashion blogger style, make sure that you have one (or five) and drape yours over your arm to show off your bag candy.
You know the ones I’m talking about.
“Pretty Baby”, “You Are My Sunshine” and “Feminist” to name a few; gurl, we’ve all got them. Don’t pretend that we haven’t.
From high street options to popular brands (Levi’s, I’m looking at you), yes, they’re awesome and no, I don’t think they’re going anywhere anytime soon.
(Or SNEAKERS if you’re American. I have to say that because I have an American BF.)
Nike, Under Armour, Adidas, Vans, Converse; if you’re not showcasing your latest pair of trainers by one of the hottest sports brands then you’re definitely not a style blogger. Soz.
The least practical of all of these options, fashion bloggers love to drape a jacket over their shoulders for chic and effortless style.
Sure, it looks cool in photos, but do they actually wear it like that for long periods of time? I tried it once or twice and my jacket just kept sliding off. It was pretty frustrating, to say the least.
So yes, a great one for a quick Insta snap, but not so much if you’re a busy gal like me always on the move. I need a jacket that does its job, yo.
All hail the layered necklace as a staple accessory to help you adopt fashion blogger style. Whether it’s silver or gold and expensive or from Primark, this jewellery piece is a fabulous way to dress up an outfit and truly make a style statement.
I have a few in my collection and I love wearing them with high-waisted bottoms and a crop top that has a deep V-neck and floaty sleeves(!)
Know what I’m sayin’?
We’ve covered the fact that fashion bloggers like to drape their jackets strategically over their shoulders for outfit photos, but we also like to show off tailored blazers that we can just throw on in a heartbeat and look awesome in.
(Remember that little beauty?)
Whatever the design, these throw-on blazers are ideal for layering up to create a stylish and fluent ensemble.
Fashion blogger style is easy to achieve once you know how. Whether you invest in these 10 key pieces or come up with other options based on your own observations, always have fun and experiment with different fashions to find out what suits you best.
